ويدعو الاطباء كل مستخدمي العدسات اللاصقه ومستخدمي هذا المحلول بايقاف استعماله حالا ورمي أي عدسات نظفت به وتم اكتشاف ضرره وتأثيره السيء على العين
وتسببه بالتهابات فطريه اميبيه وتقرحات بالعين وآلام حاده أو نغزات بين فتره وفتره
وهذا شكل الأميبا المسببه للالتهابات ومع الاهمال تسبب التهابات حاده للقرنيه وهي متعددة الاطراف ولها مثل الأقدام حواليها وتتكاثر وتتمدد وتتطور مسببة العمى

افاده رسميه من وزارة الصحه البحرينيه
اصدرت وزارة الصحة البحرينية بيانا حذرت فيه مستخدمي العدسات اللاصقة بضرورة التوقف عن استخدام المحلول (( AMO – complete-Rmoisture plus TM multi purpose) حيث تبين أن هذا المنتج قد يسبب التهابات أميبية للقرنية وذلك بعد صدور بيان من الشركة المنتجة لهذا المحلول الأسبوع الماضي بالتحذير من استخدامه وإصدار توجيه بسحبة من الصيدليات بمملكة البحرين ونصحت د.نورة الكبيسي استشارية أمراض العيون ورئيسة قسم العيون بمجمع السلمانية الطبي بضرورة أتباع التعليمات للمحافظة على سلامة العيون ومنها التوقف حالا عن استخدامه والتخلص من المتبقي من هذا المحلول وكذلك العلب غير مفتوحة واختيار محلول آخر مناسب، و التخلص من العدسة المستخدمة حاليا مع المحلول.
وطالبت الكبيسي بالتخلص من علبة حفظ هذه العدسات، واستشارة طبيب عيون عند الإحساس بألم حاد في العين مصحوب باحمرار وعدم وضوح الرؤية وعدم تحمل الإضاءة والتدميع بغزارة، واخذ الاحتياطات الروتينية للعناية بالعدسة والعين كلبس وخلع العدسة حسب التعليمات المصاحبة(يومية أو أسبوعية أو شهرية) ، وخلع العدسة خلال الاستحمام أو برك السباحة، وغسل اليدين بالماء والصابون وتجفيفها قبل لمس العدسة، والتنظيف الدوري للعدسة حسب تعليمات التصنيع، والعناية بمحلول التنظيف وحمايته من التلوث، وعدم استخدام مطلقا محلول السيلان أو ماء الحنفية لتنظيف العدسة والعلبة، وتنظيف علبة حفظ العدسة بمحلول التنظيف الخاص للعدسة، وتغيير علبة حفظ العدسة باستمرار بمعدل كل3 أشهر. وذكرت د.الكبيسي انه لم ترصد أي حالات لالتهاب قرني أميبيي حتى امس بمجمع السلمانية الطبي بقسم العيون

On May 25, AMO (Advanced MedicalOptics) announced a recall oftheir 'No Rub' Complete MoisturePlus Multipurpose ContactSolution. Although thecompany stands by its product and casts the blame on contactlenswearerswho 'improperly store, disinfect or handle' their contact lenses, the CDC forcedAMOto recall CompleteMoisture Plus.
This Complete Moisture Plus recallis not so distant fromBausch & Lomb's recallof ReNu with MoistureLoc, which caused serious injury to many contact lens wearers. AMO'spress releasestatesthey have known since January of 2005 about at least 46 patientswhoclaimed to havecontracted a unique form of keratitis from the AMO Recallsolution.
This keratitis is called 'acanthamoeba keratitis (AK)'. Fromall indications, AMO Moisture Plus recall was delayed as long asBausch did incomingforward and recalling the product; potentially exposing an untoldnumberof unsuspectingcontact lens wearers to this painful (AK) infection thatcancause permanentvision loss or blindness.
Other reports seem to illustrate acompany who knew about the potentiallink between (AK) and their CompleteMoisturePlus Multipurpose Solutionsince as early as 2004. In 2004, theinfection first occurred in more thana dozen people against the normal count ofone or two in a year. Dr. Elmer Tu, an ophthalmologist at the University ofIllinois, Chicago, along with otherdoctors attended around 35 patients from May 2003 to September of 2006, 55% of whomwere infected due to usage of AMOComplete MoisturePlus recall solution.
According to Dr. Tu, AMO'sCompleteMoisturePLUS solution is not defective. It is just not designedtoprovide a shield tothe eyes when they're exposed to soil or water where therisk of bacterial infection issignificant. Julie Zawisza, an FDA spokes person, said,' The solution is not marketedto protect against the amoeba. But it'ssupposed to be free of any type ofmicroorganisms. It's not supposed to resultin anyone getting aninfection.'
Once again, one must wonder whatcorporations who suspect problemswith their products are thinking when theywait one, two, or more years beforewarning the public about a potential hazardprovoked or caused by their product. We wonder how much injury must occur beforecorporate dollars aresufficient.
Acanthamoeba keratitis & MicrobialKeratitis patients suffer symptomsvery similar to other common bacterial eyeinfection, but the AK infection canresult in the loss of eye sight. If youexperience symptoms, including thefollowing, we encourage you to firstimmediately seek treatment from anexperienced, eye care professional:
' Eye pain ' Eye redness and soreness ' Hypersensitivity to light ' Reduction in visual acuity ' Temporary or, at the worst, permanentblindness
